Sustaining Excellence & Service to Community
You may not be aware that the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) contributes much more than beautiful music to the St. Louis area every year. SLSO presents more than 100 live performances at its home in Grand Center, including classical programs, education concerts for 25,000 students annually, feature films with the orchestra playing the score live, family concerts, performances with renowned guest artists, and holiday concerts at Powell Hall.
The Berges Family Foundation’s leadership gift to SLSO has been instrumental in supporting the institution’s Realizing Greatness Campaign, enabling a sound financial infrastructure to sustain the orchestra’s excellence and service to the community for generations to come.
The SLSO has become a strong, vibrant, and sustainable institution, guided by a strategic vision that preserves its legacy and future. Thanks to support like that of the Berges Family Foundation, the SLSO provides excellent music experiences that foster meaningful connections among audiences, the community, and the world’s finest musicians.
Cultural Vitality
Additionally, the SLSO plays its part in promoting the cultural vitality of St. Louis and enriching lives beyond the walls of Powell Hall, with SLSO musicians performing free programs each season in schools, parks, hospitals, nursing homes, and other public places throughout the region. The SLSO also shares music with audiences locally, nationally, and internationally through recordings and media activities.
Enriching Lives With The Power of Music
Thanks to the Berges Family Foundation’s support of the SLSO, the orchestra can grow its commitment to artistic excellence, music education, accessibility, and community connections in the St. Louis region – all in service to the SLSO mission: enriching lives through the power of music.
“Jim and Cathy are truly dedicated to making St. Louis a great place to live, visit, and invest – now and in the future. Their generous support of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra endowment provides us with the ability to strengthen and build our mission and our value to our community. Their generous support is critical and lasting. For that, we are so very grateful.”
